This touch screen interactive was produced for a new local history and geology centre at Clitheroe Castle. Flora and Fauna is a database-driven, and client-updateable collection of images, audio and text. It covers a wide variety of animal and plant life, in, and around Clitheroe and the Ribble Valley. The collection is rich in images and audio, and can be searched purely by media, or by category or keyword. For those visitors who prefer instant information, there is a show me something interesting feature.
I developed this touch screen interactive for Harewood House, as a way to make their collection of Chippendale furniture more accessible to the public. The collection is catalogued into themes, and contains high resolution photos, detailed information on the manufacture and use of each piece and, where available, digital copies of the original bill of sale.
The interactive also includes a virtual tour of a few locations around Harewood House, a question-and-answer video interview with Lord Harewood (cousin of The Queen), and a collection of videos which document the restoration of the State Bed.
Virtually the ICE AGE is a touch screen kiosk and interactive CD-ROM. It was produced for Creswell Crags, a limestone gorge on the border between Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, and home to a number of historically important caves. The interactive contains a database-driven collection of Ice Age tools, materials and animal remains, and also people, places and museums that are associated with those objects. The collection can be searched by category, theme or keyword.
The interactive also includes a virtual tour around the Crags, a series of interactive animations showing how the caves were formed, and The Creswell Challenge. Creswell Challenge is an educational game, where you explore your way through the caves, collecting objects as you go.
